‘Wo ist die maus?’

In German, from 6mo.

Cute little board book. Erwin is an elephant and he sad he cannot find his friend the mouse. Where is she? Erwin and his friend the giraffe will try together to find the mouse. They eventually decide to look for the mouse somewhere else when the mouse exits a hole just under the spot where the elephant was sitting.

The illustrations are gorgeous and the texture of this cardboard book is great for little hands to manipulate.

‘La maitresse est mal reveillee’

In French, from 3yo.

A funny story, this time this is not about children struggling to wake up and go to school. No, it is about a teacher who is not a morning person. She does not want to get up and get dressed, she does her best to avoid climbing into the car, she sulks during the whole trip to the school.

Cute story to put some humour into children’s morning routine. Some of teachers struggle too.

‘Harmony day with the Goethe society of WA’

It was a real pleasure to contribute to the Goethe Society’s celebration for Harmony day.

After spending some time with the parents watching all German speaking children play different games, we had a taste of several yummy German food, including Pretzels.

I then read books in French and in Spanish. It was an interactive session where there were exchanges of words in German, French and Spanish. We try to guess words in one of those 3 languages and I could tell some were made up even when it was in German.

Christine Reger, the language coordinator, kindly mentioned us in her article in the April issue of the Treffpunkt (page 3).

I look forward to collaborating on more events promoting multiculturalism in Perth and in Australia.
