La bella e la bestia

Description

Belle is the youngest daughter of a merchant who has lost all her fortune. Departing for a journey, the man asks his daughters what they want as a gift. The two older daughters ask for expensive gifts, but Belle just asks for a rose. The merchant’s journey turns out to be a failure and he is unable to buy gifts for his daughters. Almost home, he passes through a garden and remembers Belle’s request. He plucks a rose. Suddenly the Beast appears and confronts the man for the theft of the flower, telling him that to avoid punishment he will have to give him one of the daughters hostage. Belle offers to go to the Palace as a hostage and, while there, she gradually realizes that the Beast is actually a good and generous creature. It will be Bella’s love to break the spell that transformed a prince into the monstrous creature.
