Il coraggio di Giovanni

Description

December 1946, Falcone house, in Palermo. Giovanni is 7 years old and receives a special gift from his father.
However, something doesn’t convince him in that group of figurines: there is a disturbing character, from which he can’t take his eyes off. In that shepherd with the grim look the child identifies a mafia boss, responsible for a murder that was talked about a lot in the city in those days.
With his wooden sword, Giovanni imagines facing him, fighting against his special playmate, a ficus tree. This is how he will discover the value of courage, this is how he will learn to say: “I am not afraid”.
