Description
Dracula is undoubtedly one of the most recognized characters in all gothic and horror literature. The novel of the same name was published in 1897 by the Irish writer Bram Stoker (1847-1912) and his work was compared to that of Edgar Allan Poe and Mary Shelley, for its atmosphere and theme, although Stoker’s epistolary style of storytelling creates a more compelling narrative. The name Dracula became synonymous with vampirism and the archetype of the graceful vampire, and over time the novel has become the inspiration for many stories and has been reinvented in countless ways.
